Do I need an appointment or do you accept walk-ins?
We accept walk-ins however it is best to contact us and schedule and appointment. Our goal is quality, not quantity so be first dog in the pack!
Why do I get the voicemail when I call CowDog&SassyCat?
Our groomers are giving pets their undivided attention and sometimes don't have time to answer the phone. We will make every effort to return your call as quickly as possible.
Why do I need to have my dog groomed every 4 – 6 weeks?
In order to maintain a proper and manageable coat, it is recommended that you have your dog groomed every 4 – 6 weeks.
How long does the grooming take?
The typical stay at the shop is 4 hours. We do our best to get your dog groomed and back home in a timely manner. Morning drop-offs are recommended although we take appointments to accomodate your schedule.
What is your cancellation policy?
If you must cancel an appointment, please give us at least 24 hours notice. In some cases pets arriving more than 45 minutes late may need to be rescheduled. Remember every dog is important and we do our best to accomodate each one. Please be considerate.
Can I stay with my pet during the grooming?
We discourage owners being present. When the owner is present the dog is focused on you and pays less attention to the groomer. We need the dogs full attention. It is in the best interest of the dog and the groomer.
When is it best to have my puppy groomed for the first time?
We like to see new puppies in our shop as early as 8 weeks of age. It's never too early to get your dog accustomed to grooming. Your puppy's first visit will be as much about establishing a repoire as it is about the haircut! We want them to be excited when they have their next appointment not afraid.
Is my pet too old to be groomed?
Likely not, however geriatric pets are one of the harder groups to work with. We may recommend that the cut remain simple so that the grooming process is as stress free as possible. Older dogs become tired quickly so request an appointment on a day that is not overly busy.
Does my dog need to be fully vaccinated?
Yes! Please bring a copy, that we may keep with you on your first visit. It is in the best interest for your dog, as well as all the other dogs that come to the shop.
What determines the cost?
The cost is based on breed, the condition of the coat, and pet's behavior. All pets are different. As hard as you try to describe what you want done over the phone, without seeing your dog and speaking to you personally, we can not give you an exact price over the phone.
Why do my dogs nails sometimes bleed after they have been trimmed?
When trimming your dog's nails, occasionally even professional groomers, nick the 'quick'. Although it may look like a lot of blood typically it is only a few drops and is easily controlled with styptic powder. If for some reason your dog's nail starts to bleed after you get home, you can apply cornstarch and pressure to the tip of the nail. This should stop the bleeding right away.
